Fractional Finance Director

Fractional Finance Director (FD) / CFO – Bespoke Manufacturing Business

Our client is an investor-backed bespoke manufacturing business with annual turnover of approximately £9m. The business is seeking an experienced Fractional Finance Director to provide strategic financial leadership whilst reviewing and strengthening the existing finance function.

Working closely with the shareholders and management team, the successful candidate will initially undertake a comprehensive review of the finance function before helping to implement improvements and provide ongoing board-level financial support.

Key responsibilities include:

• Review the structure, capability and capacity of the existing finance team.
• Assess finance systems, processes and controls, including ERP and Sage 50.
• Review management accounts, forecasting, cash flow reporting and key financial controls.
• Evaluate costing, quoting and commercial reporting to improve profitability and decision making.
• Recommend and help implement improvements across the finance function.
• Provide strategic financial leadership to the board on a fractional basis (typically 3–4 days per month).

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience as an FD or CFO within an SME manufacturing or project-based business.
• Strong commercial and operational finance experience.
• A track record of improving finance functions, systems and reporting.
• Experience working with owner-managed and/or private equity-backed businesses.
• The ability to operate strategically whilst remaining hands-on where required.
