Financial Controller

Financial Controller | £70,000–£80,000 | East London / Essex

We are working exclusively with an established specialist manufacturing business to recruit a hands-on Financial Controller following a recent change in ownership.

This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function at an important stage of the company's development. Working closely with the Directors and an experienced Fractional Finance Director, the successful candidate will have a broad remit across financial control, management reporting, forecasting, working capital, systems and process improvement.

This is not simply a month-end reporting role. The new Financial Controller will have a clear mandate to strengthen the finance function, improve the quality of management information and help develop a more commercially focused and data-led approach across the business.

Salary: £70,000–£80,000 + benefits

Location: East London / Essex

Key responsibilities will include:

• Ownership of month-end and production of accurate, timely management accounts
• Improving financial controls and balance sheet reconciliations
• Developing management information, KPI reporting and variance analysis
• Improving stock, WIP and job-costing processes
• Developing cash-flow forecasting and working-capital reporting
• Supporting pricing, margin and job profitability analysis
• Leading the finance team's day-to-day activities
• Taking the finance lead on the continued implementation and development of the company's ERP system, improving its use across stock, WIP, job costing, time recording and management information
• Playing a key role in the continued implementation and adoption of the company's ERP system
• Working closely with operational teams to improve financial information and processes

The ideal candidate will have:

• Strong Financial Controller or senior finance management experience within an SME
• Stong SAGE experience (SAGE 50 used)
• Experience within manufacturing, engineering, construction or another project-based environment
• Good knowledge of stock, WIP and job/project costing
• Strong management accounting and financial control experience
• Experience improving and embedding ERP/finance systems, processes and reporting
• Strong Excel and systems capability
• A hands-on, commercially minded approach and the confidence to drive change
• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification would be preferred, although candidates with strong relevant experience will also be considered.
